5) The Battle of Evermore
This is one of the many CDs in the Led Zeppelin Archives・series from Aziya Records that I picked up while living in Ukraine a few years ago. There appear to be more than twenty in the series. I would like to eventually upload as many of the thirteen that I managed to find as possible. However, it's a slow process, because I suspect there is at least some officially released material on these. Most of these discs have gorgeous original cover art by a Russian artist, mimicking the style and using images from the original Zeppelin album art (I wish I could find some of these covers as posters). The artist's name is Dmitry Lenkov, and he has a website at www.dttgallery.com/lenkov. Unfortunately, last time I checked he didn't have any of his Led Zeppelin cover art posted.
Has anyone else heard anything about this series? I managed to find about thirteen of the discs, and would have liked to get the others. The sound quality is great on most of them, and they're nice to have for the art alone. I've found a few vague references to this series on some Russian sites, but they just say that they are sourced from western bootlegs.・
As for this disc, the first two tracks, from Earl's Court in London, are the main attraction. Dazed and Confused is over thirty minutes long, and No Quarter・over twenty. These are spectacular (even though Dazed and Confused・appears to fade out a little at the end, for some reason). The remaining three tracks, from April 27, 1977 in Cleveland, are nothing special, but I included them because they're on the disc.
